I found this at a thrift store. I find it very interesting. Do you think it is Native American or another culture like African. It is painted on animal skin.

It's a tapa cloth placemat, from the kingdom of Fiji, in the South Pacific, a popular souvenir from the islands.
Tapa cloth is made from strips of the paper mulberry tree bark, pounded out thin and flat, and glued together to form a type of non-woven fabric. It is made in several South Pacific countries, which one can be identified by the method of decoration, and the design patterns. In this case, a stencil is used, and the black and brown geometric patterns are those found on "masi," traditional tapa from Fiji.
(No animal products are used in the making of tapa cloth.)
