Loracollec…
(1 item)
I am unable to tell if it is made of porcelain or maiolica. The material is white but is not wery smooth on touch. However, it is still a very lovely piece.
5.6" x 4.5" x H 4" with a lead handle.
I bought this box at a church garage sale.
Cannot find thos mark anywhere on the Internen or in my books of marks.
Would really appretiate if anyone could help me figure out who made this and when.
Thank you,
Larysa
This is very beautiful!!!! I wished I knew whom did this!!
It certainly is lovely!! Looks Italian made to me. I don't know if that's HH63 or 4463.
Only closest thing I could find was a German hallmark V that looked similar.
It looks like a crossed swords mark - the Meissen factory had this mark, however it was copied by many other firms. The Meissen factory made a very fine porcelain, but I believe yours isn't porcelain, but rather earthenware.
it's hard to tell from photos. It could well be stoneware dur yo it's white white colours. But the thickness is usually the clue and the none ability to petitely model the item. Which is a contradiction in your item because it has very thin parts to it which are symptomatic of porcelain.
Anyhow there are beautiful aspects of this work that draw from Italy germany and Greece. An item that has put a loy of effort to give it that Continental feel. The cherubs, the flower border. The colours. And that beautiful handle. yummy indeed.
Thank you for your reply,
Yes, you right, it looks German or Italian to me too. And material more as very old porcelain but ornament more often seen on Italian majolika.
I will continue my research and post the answer if I will find it.
Thank you all very much for your replies.
