We planted this river birch about 25 years ago. It was one of those little sticks you get from the National Arbor Day Society for sending them money. I stuck these old tractor wheels in crotch of the trunk in the hopes that the tree would "eat" them. I was thinking they might help keep it from splitting. That was about 8 or so years ago... So far so good...

That is my kind of thing ,toolate2 No one will steal them that way.
I have a Maple tree in my yard that has a plowshare in the base of it, how & when it got there I don't know. I took over the farm from my grandfather in 1982, maybe he put it there. I have often thought it would make for an interesting piece of furniture of some sort.
