    I think the subtle glaze on this piece is really great. i can't make out the words under the glazed bottom - at all - not even close to anything. the piece reminds me of some rare Batchelder pieces from the 1920s/30s. any info appreciated. i do think it's a very nice, early california piece, but i'm no expert.

      This rope-handle basket is part of a line called "Caliente" made by Haldeman Potteries. I'm not sure of their original location but by the early 1950s they were located in Calabasas. The business closed in 1973.
      Not all of their pieces were marked and sometimes the mark is obscured by the glaze. If there was to be a mark on your piece, it would read "222 Cal".
