I have not tested this necklace but I am thinking it is Bakelite. It just has the "Bakelite feel" to it. The necklace is smaller than other I have; it has a weight of about 55 grams. I will have to re-string it when I get a chance.

Thanks for your comment, Mary. I have been so busy and just now have the time to check my posts. The necklace needs to be re-strung and therefore it's hard to measure exactly. It is around 22 inches and fits over the head without opening, but barely:)
