    from the ebay.fr lot

    i have more knowledge in actresses and courtesans than i do in actors and male figures, so this is one i do need some help in identifying. i've tried researching the short penciled name on the back in as many spellings it could be mistaken for, but i've come up with nothing.

      BTW ... Disdéri is historically important and best known for patenting his version of what was then known as the 'calling card' into what became the immensely popular CDV format ('visiting card').

      ah, yes. i'm very aware and actually collect some of his work. he's responsible for photographing so many beautiful subjects that fit in well to my collection of operatic, theatrical, and courtesan CDVs.
