Another tool from inherited from my Grandfather. It is a round tenon jig. There are no manufacturer markings. However, there is a sizing scale on the front left that became apparent after cleaning. This is the first tool that I have refurbished.

    1. I soaked the tool parts in vinegar to remove crud and rust, and then brushed it with a soft brush (tooth brush).
    2. Polished the parts (using a bench polishing equipment I also inherited form Grandpa).
    3. Coated the parts with auto wax, and moving parts and screw threads with 3 in 1 oil.

    Things I learned

    1. Take before photos so that the result is even more impressive :).
    2. Soaking too long in vinegar can cause pitting in the metal.
    3. Would likely use a Linseed Oil solution for protection in most cases. But this tool has so many adjustable parts that I was concerned with sticking.

Any observations you guys have would be appreciated. I have really enjoyed learning about different tools since joining this site.

WD40 has many uses and that would have worked.

WD40 is a penetrant which evaporates & leaves no protection.
