I acquired this dome trunk at an auction and am considering a restoration -lots of surface rust and some wood repair needed. I just love these trunks and finally got this one for $40. Is anyone out there familiar with this style and possibly the maker and rough creation date? I'd love to find out some history of this piece and if the women depicted inside are generic or are they possibly known to the owner.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hey Carolyn, your trunk is a barrel top or round top trunk as I call them, cross slat design, slats running front to back on the top, patented in 1880 by C A Taylor, the metal slat clamps should say 1880 on them, could be from late 1880's but I think late 1890's is more likely, give or take a little. the lithograph's inside were completely random and had nothing to do with the owner's. if you have any questions on refinishing just ask, thank's greendog.
