This lamp has been in my storage a few years now. It has no makers marks I can find. It needs to be rewired and his sword is missing but otherwise in good shape. I bought a few sword letter openers and a couple could be used to replace the missing one. If anyone has idea of maker please let me know or if something other than a letter opener would be a better replacement for the sword. Thanks
I will check my catalogues and see if I can find him. If the scale works for one of your letter openers that would be a quick fix. If not then you would need to make one. That will be much easier when we find an image of your fellow. If not then a study of the uniform could help pin down the type of sword required.
Lisa-lighting Thank You I didn't think of checking on uniform to sword style. I have a brother who works with metal who could help make or transform a letter opener. Thanks for checking your catalogues also.

Oh bother still no sign of your warrior. I do think that perhaps he is Greek rather than Roman. Those who know do please enlighten me.
Lisa-lighting I Thank You for checking and you may be right that he is Greek. So many beautiful things were made in the past and hard to track some of them.
I have a similar posed soldier oil lamp that I inherited from my Aunt who inherited from her Aunt. The solder pose is very similar but not the same. My lamp has a large oil basin globe above his head with the markings "The Miller Lamp Made in U.S.A." very subtly embossed in with filigree on the oil basin. Also, mine is not painted. His sword is also missing. Given the similarity of the pose and solider's appearance, I would guess the same maker as your lamp.
