This little sweater chain has the words "patent pend" (pending) on the clips. It is used to hold a cardigan sweater together.

Eileen, yes, I noticed that verdigris too! Thanks for the tip to use Brasso. I am new to that issue, and in fact I noticed it on an old piece I bought about two months ago-- I better take care of it!
