I've had this little bear for over 40 years. I intially bought him from a fete, so have no idea to how old he is.

The little bear is only around4 inches tall. No ears (and can't see anywhere they would have gone) and threadbare. The head does feel squeaky when squashed (it feellike straw/sawdust). The eyes are minute and feel a bit like metal dots. One thing I have noticed is the paws, they are metal in them.
I also note that his paws have metal bits in their ends.

I'd love to know the manufacturer and rough date of this little bear.

I ca't bear to throw him away and he goes on all holidays with me :)

I always fall for the well loved stuffed animals and dolls. Brings to mind the Velveteen Rabbit. Makes you wonder who loved the toy in the past.

lpit, This stuffed toy tugs at the heart, because it has been so obviously loved.

However, both mareredware and Vynil33rpm have referenced the Velveteen Rabbit, and I have to say that my initial thought on seeing yours was "earless rabbit." It's the shape of the head, I think.

What happened to the ears, if they ever existed? Perhaps they weren't of the same material as the rest of the body, and were merely glued on.

As to it being stuffed with straw or sawdust, that seems like a good guess. I still have a stuffed toy from my own childhood that I suspect is filled with sawdust. I keep it in a plastic bag as a precaution. :-)

Good luck in finding out more about your treasured companion.
