SAW-SQUARE??
Saw blade is removable 11 1/4" L
Handle is 5 7/8" L x 1" W
Tightens down and loosens up by twisting the brass "knob"
Brass accents/plates on top & bottom portion and sandwiched between very hardwood on the end
At turn knob there appears to be writing.. but so badly worn, cant view enough to identify or narrow search results
PLEASE..If anyone can end this mystery for me, I'd be grateful.
I think you have the handle of a 'sliding T bevel' which has lost its 'sliding' portion, that somebody has otherwise clamped a scroll-saw blade into. (or in other words, two things that really don't belong together...)
I agree with AnythingObscure. The cut in the handle for a "blade" to rest in does not go all the way through; that is typical of bevel gauges. Also, I have seen cast iron "pistol-grip" handles with provisions to clip interchangeable sawblades onto them, and the back end of the blades looks like the one you have. It's a clever make-do tool, though.
Thanks bobby725 -- I think "keyhole saw" is the more proper name for that sort of blade (that wouldn't come to me this morning... <groan>) which as UncleRon says, are sometimes made to be detachable from their (wooden or metal) handles.
Thank you for your time in commenting on this question. From your knowledge of manufacturers/makers does the vauge sample in the third image resemble anyone in particular? It appears to be cursive writing, I suppose not the best picture however.
I would suggest that a bevel gauge has been botched up with a saw blade. Two different tools not designed for each other.
