I keep telling myself I won't buy anything, then I see an unusual item and I've done it again! This figurine measures 8 inches tall and 10 1/2 inches in length. It's definitely old and has some damage. It reminds me of items by A Santini, but I find none with the orange eyes with black pupils like this one - horse and wolf (or fox). I would assume it is resin, but it feels more like bone. I can't make out the marks on the front or back. What do you think? Is this related to mythology (the story)? Italian or Greek? Don't think she is fox hunting in that dress. What a delightful item!
Looks to be a lost wax casting in my opinion.
I came upon a similar item today at an estate. Now I have two and am delighted with them! Still do not know what it is made of. I find no similar examples searching (so searching for wrong thing) and nothing similar as lost wax casting. Anyone have any ideas? Would appear to be resin or bone, but both items are obviously very old. Please let me know if you have any thoughts!
