Estate vintage Oriental piece, non gold, non silver holder, non magnetic.

Could this piece have been made by MAX NEIGER the creative genius behind the prolific and innovative lines of costume jewelry produced.... by the Neiger Brothers from 1903 until 1938.

    Unsolved Mystery

Very nice both front and back. In all my searches on Neiger I haven't seen this griffin. It's a beautiful necklace.

The Griffin has been depicted on literally 1000's upon 1000's of items--jewelry, lamps, coat of arms, carved into furniture, doors, stained glass, there's no end--.through-out the centuries.
This is a wonderful piece, but it would be quite an accomplishment to determine who designed it. I, for one, would love to know...
      Good luck!

Very pretty. The stone, if natural, looks to be Larimar. Love the chain too!

Yes everyone & their sister describes their items as NEIGER Czech pieces with few being authenticated.
I c/b wrong but I believe this to be Peking Glass.
There is a beautiful one on Rubylane at Phoenix Jewelry
“Art Nouveau Czech Neiger Gargoyle Dragon Jade Peking Glass Brass NecklaceChoker”. But it’s not a dragon or griffin. Anyone who has an interest in the finer end of vintage costume jewellery will learn to know this family name — that of Neiger, or more properly the Neiger brothers, who were murdered with an entire generation of their Jewish brethren at Auschwitz in Poland.

NOTE: Identification can be difficult, as many Neiger pieces ARE NOT MARKED.
THUS THIS OPENS THE DOOR TOO MANY KNOCK-offs!

Thanks anile2010 for saying what I also know from many years of collecting Czech and Bohemia jewelry and I've posted and said here on CW. I only have 2 that I am pretty sure are real Neiger pieces out of 20 or so wonderful old glass examples. (Check them out!!) You're right, they aren't signed and the only way to really ID Neiger is from research. In the 70's when King Tut's treasures toured the world excellent collectors shared their knowledge of 1920's -30's Egyptomania. I trust those sources most.

Neiger Brother’s jewelry is beautiful and so desired. You are so right, never trust a seller by just taking their word on a piece! Do your own research, that goes for any jewelry that is not marked, ( there are knock off’s of KJL, WEISS, FLORENZA, EISENBERG, just to mention a few, I know, I have seen them!) So please, be careful out there, especially if you are paying top dollar for a piece you love.
I didn’t know the history of the Neiger Brother’s demise, makes me very sad...

The Chinese character on the top means “Happiness/good fortune”, such a beautiful piece to have!

      Thanks so very much.
You just added so much knowing there is “reason” as well as “beauty”.
