    I purchased this egg today. It is brass and there is a Madonna and child painted on the front. It is signed but I do not understand Russian. When it opens, there is a wooden egg inside. If anyone can assist, I would truly appreciate it.

      Might it be a souvenir from one of their historic cathedrals? Russia used to be highly Orthodox.
