Youre welcome, you know I am a bookworm, and when I started being interested in semi precious stones for jewelry making about 12 years ago, I found out that citrine and amethyst stones are from the same quartz family, some are very pale, and both of them can be heated to change their color to a darker purple or orange color.
Just to make things more complicated....lol.

Thanks truth my interest in stones has grown since I bought a collection and started cleaning them, now I am trying to learn as much as I can

It is also quite possible that this could be a Spinel. I gave my wife a gorgeous ring from an estate that has a large stone similar to this color (always hard to tell from pics) and it tested as a Spinel.

Spinels come in a range of colors to include deep red, blue, yellow, orange, pink, violet and purple. Deep red Spinels are often misrepresented as Rubies.
