It's interesting to delve into the 100 year old import export businesses and their catalogs. Vantine had a wide range of goods from both the Far East and the Near East.

They had great style in the attractive way they decorated their publications, and how they presented goods mostly meant for the women of the house. Much utilitarian items, and lots of exotic decorative pieces, garments etc.

Many Americans learned about Chinese and Japanese goods, such as quilted robes and jackets, kimonos, fine porcelain, metal censers and incense, from ordering from the catalogs of going to the vast impressive store in New York.
