This is an impressive hand painted bone china teacup made by Copeland's China (of Copeland Spode) as a special commission to the famous London firm Thomas Goode & Co, purveyors of luxury items since 1827. The front panel features two exotic birds (Asiatic pheasants?) with vivid colors, elaborate detail, and a natural background of trees and vegetation. The remainder of the cup is enameled in green and pink and heavily gilded throughout.
The bottom mark is uncommon, with the T. Goode and Crown in gold-brown, and a Sèvres-like mark in pale blue in the center that was reserved for specially commissioned pieces. Any help with dating this beautiful piece and/or pattern name would be greatly appreciated.
