Here's some crashmobiles I picked up. You put them together and then propelled them into a wall, etc. so the front bumper would release the the mechanism inside so they would fly apart into seperate pieces. The first pic shows the standard sedan version. 2 and 3 show an Oldecrash Model T or a similar vintage jalopy of that era. They're about 3 1/2" long. They also made a Stock car, a Weird O(not exactly like the Hawk Weird-Ohs or spelled the same way) that was a whimsical auto and a Spy Car. They were made by Tri-Play Toys in Chicago.
In the late '50s I had a larger version of a crashmobile, it had a crank on one wheel that you wound up and it would really fly when released. It had 4 seperate fenders and a top that would fly apart on impact. It was made of tougher thicker plastic and was incredibly durable(it survived many of my brutal crashes into the baseboards). If anyone can tell me the manufacturer, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Bill
