Just found. Would like to know more information about it though. And should I open it and clean it and risk breaking the cap?

If it was mine I'd gently clean its outside, then see if anything inside otherwise leaks/stinks/etc. That's just me, there are plenty of other folks here who really *do* know all sorts of neat info about old bottles, I'm sure someone else will speak up shortly! :-)

Although Ball produced a ton of jars they also made all other sorts of bottles. I have several old soda pop bottles in my collection made by Ball.
Honestly it looks like an old Wish-Bone salad dressing bottle from the maybe the late 1950's til when ever they went to plastic bottles.

I agree with bottle-bud No telling what someone may have put in it. I used them for everything from oil to pesticides.
