    I have no idea what this lovely thing is. It doesn't stand up on its own,there is wear to the tips of the legs. So many little peices and obviously handmade.
    Please help!

      It looks like a stand to hold a picture frame.
      Can anything be tightened up a little so it will stand on the “legs”?

      When I first saw it I thought that it was some sort of stand too, but no, there is no indication that it can be tightened. I think its some sort of tool but that's just a guess.

      The type of turned lathe work reminds me of country French furniture and spinning wheels.
