A fine example of a well built European trunk using wood, brass leather and canvas. Nice contrasts of brown black and brass...

She's a real BEAUTY T-man!! European trunks have always been among my favorites. I have a few, but none as nice as yours.

Thanks so much Js ! They are really wonderfully made. They are a joy to collect... although I hesitated on this one for two weeks. The price was a giveaway but I didn’t look closely at the ad pictures. Finally dawned on me it was brass hardware. Worth the small clean up effort!

That's a wonderful trunk find T-man.I cleaned up well.
I suspect that the crown possibly denoted some status of nobility.Perhaps a comte or viscount of some type who knows?, I Know that Goyard has a chart for the letters and paintings
Here is a link to an image of choices that were painted.

I thought I would post as well an interesting link to a lengthy video of Goyard
(It's in french with english subtitles)
Apparently they have bought back over 600 trunks for preservation.
I hope it posts, Enjoy! Thanks Elliot for the post ,you know I dig the European trunks.
