Nice pink / orange satin glass herringbone vase. Three casings - clear over colour over white. Pontil is flat and polished smooth. Top is flat and fire polished? There is a slight bevel around the top edge. Colour decreases in intensity from neck down. Maker is unknown but the three casings would normally suggest a major firm. Good weight for its size. Dimensions: 15 cms tall and 6.5 cms across widest part of body. Nicely proportioned.

This piece of glass has nice proportions. At first, when I got it, I didn't pay much attention to it but the shape, colour and distinctive pattern have grown on me. It's silky smooth and very tactile when held in your hand. I've now appreciated the level of skill, which the experienced glass maker would have had, to be able to make this particular item. There were a number of steps which were involved in its production. I think it would have been made in England during the last 15 years of the 19th century. Thanks for the comment.
