This is a life size hand made half face.... Looks to be clay. Picture shows one mark on it that I really can’t make out. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Now please don’t be offended: My first thought was that it looks like something a prisoner made in preparation for a jail break....put this thing on his pillow to make the bed look like he’s tucked in for the night but he’s really making a getaway thru a tunnel he dug with a spoon.
Maybe Inuit or native American?? The initials look like MB to me.
The first thing I thought when I saw it was ..death mask..if you google that you will see what I mean
