I am not able to determine the makers name on this block plane. Looks like the owner went a little overboard putting his initials on this plane. I've searched google for Hallaway and planes, I found a Scottish company named Holloway. Any of you guys have an idea? If you guys don't know, no one else will.

I must assume the plane is from somewhere near England. The plane iron was second only to Sorby during the late 19th century. Excellent steel usually Sheffield.
Their is a Scottish plane maker named Holloway, you are right about Great Britain I think.
The plane is a W. BUTCHER plane. The Hallaway name mostlikely was one of the plane's owners name.
If Hallaway was a cabinet maker it would be in keeping for him to have his name branded into his tools. The other guy with the initials went crazy with a metal die stamping kit.
Butcher made the iron. The plane was made by someone else, who, I don't know, if I could make out the first letter in the marking, I'd know. I've been wrong before, but I can not find where Butcher made anything out of wood.
If your right, this Hallaway fella might be the maker of this plane, you think?
In 1819, William Butcher launched an edge tool manufactory on a small plot of land on Eyre Street. B usiness interests spanned steel, file, edge-tool, knife, and razor manufacture. In 1830, with the inclusion of Brother Samuel the firm became ‘William and Samuel Butcher’ (or more simply, ‘W. & S. Butcher’). Thus the logo change from “W Butcher” to “W & S Butcher.” This information places the date of manufacture of this plane, since it shows the original logo, to the 1820s. There is much more on William and Samuel if you care to look it up, it's right here on the internet. It’s an intriguing story as they bring their manufacturing to the U.S. during the mid 1800s.
So this plane shown above is pre 1830.
I guess where I get cornfused is some place where I've read about Butcher, a number of so called experts said Butcher never made planes. But from my previous experience with your comments you have always been spot on. I'm going to go with you, thanks.
Just an observation..the initials say J.N.C..to me I was thinking J.N. Company since there's no period after the C? Maybe a hardware store?
