Bought this old "tombstone" style toolbox at an estate sale. I like to fix them up and use or sell them.

The latch is a mystery to me. I have seen these latches before but can't find them on the internet. Because of this, I can't order any when doing a restoration.

    Can anyone tell me:

    1. The correct name for this latch?
    2. A source for purchasing either new or vintage latches of this type?

I realize that I can easily replace them with a different type of compression latch, but I want to be able to source these latches If I want.

    Thank you

Lots of vintage hardware sites. You can Google "vintage latch hardware" or "tool box latch", etc

Also if you identify the box..I believe it's a lunch box? That would narrow down the style of latch you need. I saw a similar box sell online for $20 ..

That's a *very nice* old box -- I'd want to use it myself if I'd have run across it!!

You didn't show the interior but it should have fold out shelves, 2 on each side when you open it. Small compartments in each shelf. Back in the 1960's these were originally sold as a tackle box not a tool box. You might find something if you research tackle box latch or similar.
