This belt plate is generally seen as slightly older than the arrow back style.
Perhaps early Civil War era. These can be hard to find.

When I was a not much older than 12 about 1961.
A buckle like this, excavated, cost about $6.00 then, when there were few collectors, but today
one like this is worth perhaps $250 to $350. I excavated my first US plate in Virginia in 1971 with my metrotech detector. It was a
C Box plate.
