Mom's Collection: In the late 1960s I collected all sorts of tobacco and candy tins and boxes, (stash boxes.) Most all of them were birthday, and Christmas presents from my mom. She would find them at the salvage shop she worked at. This tin was one of those presents, and it's fitting that I include it in "Mom's Collection". The tin is covered in cloth and nicely detailed. Other than that, I don't know much about it. It's (15 cm) tall

try to break it in chinese if it is an equivalent of the social antroposofical XI XIANG JIE the so called good luck knotting , maybe the MIZUHIKI might help us, well we might loose but we never give in

this is minyao cang = folk ware or folk collection it sounds derogative, but actually it aint

well i am not an embroidery expert but it looks like SILK ON JUTE the beads you have to judge yourself probably composite if it contains bubbles it is probably glass

the knotting is quite well to actually it got a stem protector

ti is extremely difficult to sample , because this is rare , so i sample this by means of baskets on chinese pinyin well there are thousands of them and almost they do knickle and dimes, because they are mid century but this one aint

so i sampled all the ALLEGED longevity marks, and the dating in the worst case scenario ( to be on the safe is 1920), well actually i already agreed a priory by design and the black coating i890-1920

IMO the design is a MUDAN MENGYA ZHONG , lets say in hillbilly english peony

actually my main important question is , is it a FEEL GOOD teacaddy

Mudan which represent good fortune and prosperity

the Swastik in hinduism , which means health and prosperity

and the ALLEGED distorted longevity , well this aint chinese wall markt 1950-
IMO this late fin de siecle with possible a social antroposofical meaning , it won,t make richbut is CERTAINLY no rubbish, well done

      waki
