Okay, said I wasn't going to buy any more hand vases a couple of years back, but of course there was a caveat - if it was a shape/colour/style I didn't have, then I COULD buy it.
So, I hadn't seen anything different in the hand vase scene since 2022, until this turned up on eBay AU.
Even though it is one of the most commonly seen colours in hand vases, opaline white (actually it is less of a dead white opaque in real life & has a nice orange "fire" when held to the light) the shape is what made the difference.
The cornucopia is waisted, tapering off into a thin handle, rather than the more typical cone shape. The moulded patterns on it are also unlike any others seen on the rest of my hand vases.
I was also won over by the delicate hand painted decoration of fuchsias around the top, one of my favourite flowers. Fuchsias were a relatively recent botanical discovery in the 19th century & thus very fashionable. In the Victorian language of flowers the fuchsia represents elegance.
In most other respects this is a classic glass hand vase of the late Victorian era, mould blown with a crimped top rim & a snapped pontil mark underneath. Right handed, with a ring. Lefties are rare!
    Most likely Bohemian origin.
