Hello everyone!!
In continuation of my cigar and match holders is this mid-19th century gentleman with top hat. This gentleman is smoking a cigar and matches are stored under his hair (shown in pic #4). The top hat was used for ashes.
This one was manufactured by E.G. Zimmerman of Hanau, Germany. As with all E.G. Zimmerman pieces, this one is extremely well modeled and cast. As with all Zimmerman pieces, this one is amazingly detailed, especially the gentleman's face (his eyes in particular). It's made of bronze and has developed a beautiful patina over the past 165+ years. I gave this one a coat of transparent bronze wax and polished it. This one measures 6 1/2" long, 5 1/4" tall and 4" deep.
Thanks very much for taking the time to stop in for a look!!!!!

Awesome cigar & match holder, the gentleman is perfectly designed to advertise both cigar smoking & the clever hat ash holder
jenni,
Thank you so much!! This is one of the largest bronze match holders I own and one of the oldest as well.
