These clocks were given away as premiums by the "D. Buchner & Co." of N.Y. Buchner who was a wholesaler of tobacco products in the !880"s. They distributed smoking and chewing tobacco. One of the Brands was "One of the Finest" Police Officer and Fire men. The trading cards were packed in their products, customers would save the cards and were redeemable for premium items.
The policeman clock cost 600 trade cards, the cards depicted police and fire captains and eventually baseball players.
This one was in extreme lousy shape when I bought it, but I restored it to it original finish. It took 3 rounds of paint stripper, one round of oven cleaner to get the case back to it's original form, along with hours with a dental pick to clean crevices in the base. I even found a nightstick to replace the one that was missing. The clock movement in it is quartz, it is very unlikely that I will find a movement that will fit a 2.25" opening.
The clock is marked as follows
No. 1102
Copyright 1887 D. BUCHNER & CO.
by N. Mullers Sons N.Y. NEW YORK
The No 1102 is center on the rear, copyright 1887 with N. mullers on the left bottom, and D Buchner and New York on the right bottom.

It turned out most excellent!! You do amazing restoration work!!
