    Hello everyone!!
A couple of years ago I posted a antique cast iron "Mad Hatter" doorstop. Well, I was fortunate enough to acquire a 2nd one recently. These were cast in the very early 1900's and have become increasingly difficult to find. So, you could easily say these are rare. This one is a different color variation than the first one I posted. These were available in three different color variations, red, blue and black. As you can see, I have the blue and black variations of the Mad Hatter. They are both 100% original. I now need to find the red variation to complete my Mad Hatter collection. I'm certain I will in a matter of time.

They were painted very crudely and were available in black with yellow bow tie and red with green bow tie and blue with red bow tie. The fact that he still retains 98% of his original paint, after 125+ years, is really incredible. He is a one piece design and, though we don't know who the foundry was that cast these, they are numbered "666 "on the bottom. They each stand 6 5/8” tall, 2 7/8” wide and weigh about 5lbs.

An interesting factoid is that the Mad Hatter and Alice were the only two characters that appeared in both of Lewis Carroll’s books, Alice In Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass.

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

    Scott
