I found this lamp at a local Florida garage sale last weekend. I noticed a mark at top, but it it is hard to decipher. It looks as if it reads Toru, but AI claimed that there was no known maker. I tried Toro and other variations with the same result. I have also searched the internet, but haven't found another example that looks like it. I do see U.S. below the mark. I am hoping that the awsome, knowledgeable CW family may know of this maker. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

possibly for an old car; like this:

Thank you so much sam66! That is exactly what it is! Antique Ford Model T Side Oil Lamp • Nickel Plated • Vintage Carriage Lantern. I was on the wrong track.
They made different ones, mine has a red main lens and a clear side lens. Didn`t know how to put oil in for a long time, finally got the bottom twisted off and added oil--works great.
Now I know what the lid inscription is. Simply FORD in script. The F is what I thought was a T and the U is all I could make out of the D. I really do appriciate you Sam. I haven't screwed off the bottom, as I didn't think that it would work after all these years. You have inspired me to give it a go.
Glad I could help. Make sure it has the wick and you can adjust it.
