These fossilized coral stones lived in the area of the Great Lakes region. Named after the town at which they were originally found.
That town is Petoskey, Michigan. Located on the edge of Lake Michigan.
they are found on the shores of the lake and have become very collectable.
the one of this size is rare and can bring a sizable dollar amount.
Here is the remarkable thing about these fossils.... They existed as living coral in shallow inland seas in earth's Devonian Period 350 -400 MILLION YEARS AGO. That's long before the dinosaur period.
