Shown is a pre war German made candy container in the form of an elf riding a sled. The wooden sled is about 7" long. The figure is composition and is hand painted. The head comes off, and the body is the container. The candy itself was usually small colored pellets which were made of sugar. Candy containers, ornaments, Santas, etc. were some of the many Christmas items exported to the U.S. before the war broke out.
