While I have no immediate restoration plans, added to my original Mustang pedal car were a few trim items which were missing, ie. windshield, hub caps, side scoops and the Mustang pony grille. The replaced items were repros from internet pedal car parts companies.

I would love opinions from true pedal car folks on what I've done. Is this the right thing to do? Is it just the owner's preference?

I am also still trying to ascertain the year of the car and the meaning of Mustang 535. Any and all input would be appreciated. Thanks.

mustangtony, thank you for your response. I hadn't really thought of the 535 as the model number but it does make a great deal of sense. Similar to my AMF Fire Chief 503?

In 1965 & 1966 Ford Motor Co. made a 535 H.P. Mustang. May have something to do with it. Jimbo

I've been doing quite a bit of research on Midget Mustangs and I've come up with some more info on this yellow Mustang. Based on the plastic steering wheel, the side quarter scoops and the key indicator- the color yellow, this Mustang is from 1971 or 1972. I have also learned that based on production numbers, the yellow Mustang 535 models are far more rare than the very popular red models produced from late 1964 to the end of 1970. (Special thanks to Hot Rod Magazine Mustang issue of June 1987- which I found on Ebay).
