Not a rare penny, but in was given to my father just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. On the front is stamped "Keep Me and Never Go Broke". On the back is stamped New Senator Hotel 121 No. Hotel St. Honolulu, T.H. I believe if there are some ww2 sailors out there they will know this place!!!

I'm curious, what's the date on the penny?

These encased cents were real popular during the first half of the 20th century. The ones from prior to 1909 have the Indian Head cent in them. After that, the Lincoln cent took over. They kept making them right up to WWII, but then metal shortages put a stop to them during the war.

That is very cool that you have both the Honolulu location and the date 1941. Leaves no doubt about the time frame and location. My father was in the navy during WWII also, but if he kept any mementos from the war, he never showed them to us kids.
