I got this table and another just like it at an estate sale of a collector, their kids didn't know anything about them. Because of the writing I think they came somewhere from the middle east, but don't have a clue what it says. They are made from very light weight wood. The label looks old, but I can't make out what it says because it was wrote in pencil and has faded. Would love to hear any ideas people may have. Thanks.

The script is Arabic. It says" No-one wins without the help of God (Allah)"This statement was well known. It was first used by Tarek the Arab conquered of Spain. It was carried on his banners. It is likely that this beautiful piece originates in North Africa. The script is photographed upside down.

These are currently (and have been for years) very popular souvenir items in the Middle East.

If I recall correctly, the ones I used to see in Saudi Arabia came from Syria.

I cannot speak to the age of your particular table.

      Enjoy it!
