Here is another piece I purchased recently. Just found out this is a wireless radio slide tuner from around 1913. The smaller cylinder slide into the larger cylinder and there is a knob on the end with some contacts. The cylinders are wrapped in a green string.

The patent refers to wireless telegraphy & the coils wound in silk covered copper wire.
