I actually found this Esso Porcelain sign by contacting the Ebay seller of another Esso sign that I bid on but got beat out, so I contacted them and found out they had this one and I got it for $180 LESS than the EBay one sold for, that one was in nicer shape but I'd take this deal over that one any day! I'm showing you the bad side, have not cleaned the good side yet. The guy I baught the sign from found them in the woods laying on the ground for years at his uncles property, his uncle use to put up signs at gas stations and install pumps. OK, 2 more pictures of other side posted now. date on the bottom says I.R.53.A

Cool EJW, I wanna see the good side. The bad doesn't look all that bad honestly for the money you gave. Get out that Bar Keeper's Friend and warm water and git her done! Great score

Thanks Signaholic, I've got to try some of that barkeepers friend, this sign dates back to at least the 50's, if you checkout my post "2 special photo's" you see 2 of these signs in the backgound in that 50's photo. I'll post the other side tomorrow on this same post.

I'm gonna pass on the big one this time. I missed the B'ville fair this year because of work, last year I was working in Rome, NY. So we hit it for the first time. There is a big fair in Mass. twice a year that we have yet to hit.

My Dad had an Esso station when I was a kid. I'm always looking for stuff related to his station. So far, I've found nothing...lol... It was in the early 60's in a very small town in NH so there probably isn't that much out there. Very nice sign! Thanks for sharing!!

toolate2, good luck on your search, the only thing we have from my wifes Grandfathers Esso station is a cheap plastic esso bank, its dissapointing to think what happened to all the pumps, signs, tools, oil cans, cash register etc. when they closed down, his own children dont even know.

....Love your ESSO sign. My family had an ESSO station, beginning in 1938 on route 30 in Pennsylvania, and the following 45 years....Of course they changed the name to Exxon and other names much later.

Thanks qmong, do you have anything from your family ESSO Station? I'm allways searching for anything from my wifes Grandpa's ESSO.

.....I'd have to give it some deep thought of anything here from the station...but if you will send me your email, {qmong@comcast.net}, I'll send an old black / white photo image of the station right before WWII, and a pic. of a painting done by a professonal artist while the business was "mothballed" during WWII. Older brother was off to war. The painter changed the word "ESSO" in the painting, perhaps for legal reasons....The original painting hangs in the Greensburg, Pa. Art museum.
