Captain Marvel dime collector. Apparently the idea was a kid would put a dime in and when he have saved $5.00 there was a release to get the money out.
Inherited the item and don't know anything about it. My guess is that it was from the 1950s and I can actually see some dimes inside of it. Looks like it had some "mechanical" parts, as if you add a dime and something would spin to change the date and how much you saved. It's a bit rusty now and the mechanism doesn't seem to work.
I love history and am fascinated by personal collectibles. Just looking for any background on it or things like it. Maybe someone had something like this growing up, maybe it sparks a memory.
