these signs were also found upstairs at the old car sales place along with the mobilestatic tire balancing machine i posted earlier. been trying to find a goodrich sign with the G at the top and haven't found any. just wondering if this is before B F Goodrich or what the deal is. it also says at the bottom right corner on the sign it says A M Sign Company Lynchburg Va. also says 1-40 does this mean 1 of 40 or what?

    thanks,
    ted

this explains the Goodrich name with and without the BF
imo 1-40 would date the sign to 1940 ,alot of old signs are dated.

link doesn't help with the date of the sign though, hmmmmmm?

thanks for all the information. we need to get back up in the attic here which is now a gas station and see what else is up there. the transformer or what ever you call it has been on since 1949 from what the ole boys have told me. we shut it off in july of 2013 when we went up and started finding all these items.

      Thank U
      Ted

I don't believe A M Sign Company Lynchburg Va. made any porcelain signs. Would you venture to say the Goodrich Tires sign is painted tin?
    8. kinggeorge1 kinggeorge1, 10 years ago
I would agree the Goodrich tire sign is painted. haven't seen any with just the G on the top of the sign. another guy sent me a ad from the 40's with the sign on it with just the G up top. not sure who made the porcelain signs. i don't know how to find how who did. the A M company from lynchburg va. is for the tire and tube balancer, that's what it says on the bottom of it. if u have any information on how to find out about the porcelain signs i would appresiete it. i never even thought about who made those, we found all the items up in the attic of the car dealer that built the place, then its been a gas station since the dealer closed up at least 40 plus years ago according to the ole boys that stop for coffee every day.

      thanks,
      ted
