This is moldavite an olive-green or dull greenish vitreous substance that was formed by a meteor that crashed to the earth 15 million years ago. The meteor entered the earth's atmosphere with such force that it melted before impact. The result was a scattering of moldavites across a small area in the Czech Republic. Moldavite is quite rare, certainly rarer than diamonds because it is nearly extinct. The earth does not produce moldavite, unlike the diamond. In 1986, it was estimated that only one ton of moldavite had ever been collected. Moldavite derived from the town of Moldauthein in Bohemia (the Czech Republic), from where the first pieces came from. But to me, this is piece more than I will ever need! =^)
Pretty neat Tom!
