Is it 'Hél. Braun & Cie'?

      Héliogravure = Hél.

      Braun et Compagnie.

The abbreviations héliog. or héliogr., found on old reproductions, may stand for the French word héliogravure, and can then refer to any form of photogravure.

I'm wondering if others are seeing what I see?
    12. toracat toracat, 10 years ago
I always see strange things! what do you see? 2 men or 2 women? or? or you drinking Cuba Libres! haha
    13. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
I would get banned to say. Best seen in the last pic. & wondering if it's just the way I see things or deliberate.

Beautiful ! Blunder what do you see > Him holding her breast ?
    15. toracat toracat, 10 years ago
thanks Manikin I deleted last photo! do not want to scare him haha
    16. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
I see it in them all. Look at the pic as a whole instead of individual parts. Mani, not that. Think of the breasts as something else & the lower part of something else.

      Testicles...there, that settles it!! RER
    18. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
I immediately saw what the image is above it & later caught the other. Thanks LOUMANAL. Of course, then there's the penis above that. I've noticed this hidden obscenity in a number of old religious art & thought about the chuckling artist wondering how many demented minds, like mine, would catch it. Africans are very good at these subtle images & I have also gotten used to looking for the "dirty" message. Shame on you Tora for posting porno! Put that 1st pic back for the untrained at picking out these things to see if they finally see after all the discussion. It's much more common than people think. People see what they want to see.

blunderbuss2 I removed it because I thought it was exciting you tooooo much!
    20. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Tora, only the hand on the shaft & the kiss in the tip did! LMAO!! Artists have a sense of humour too & you can catch this sort of thing in churches going back hundreds, if not thousands of years. Once I became aware of this method, I look for it & like to point it out to to untrained eye. Many are startled to see it in serious religious art.
    21. toracat toracat, 10 years ago
Also I thought it might be mine! reflection in mirror! haha
    22. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
      Probably too long Tora! LOL

Maybe you need to see some other images of the statue BB to add some other perspective? This image might well have the qualities of a Thematic Apperception Test. Try these for size:

PS: Tora, when you said "Really Sexy", you obviously didn't know how much so. Hope this has a been a lesson for people to look for those hidden messages in art.
    25. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Ah, so vetra, you are back in here. In school, the psychologist said, "You are the first to pass or fail the ink-blot test. I'm just not sure which."
    26. vetraio50 vetraio50, 10 years ago
      Ink 'n Blink!

Maybe Adolphe Braun saw it too!
    27. Manikin Manikin, 10 years ago
Well not that it is pointed out your seeing his built in arm rest I see it now . Of coarse nude guys need one to know the guys from the girls :-) Heck being a nurse I just take it in stride ,seen one you've seen them all :-)
Vet I failed the ink blot test too years ago lol everything looked like a x-ray to me lol
    28. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Luv you Mani, but they are all different, no matter the gender. As a nurse, you should know that. This artist saw the statue at a certain angle & it clicked in his/her mind, and this was the result. Think I've got a torch cut West Indian steel panel in the garage I might poste, that when studied closely, might get me banned from CW. It's interesting art & more prevalent than people think because people see what they want to see & just don't see the other side. Actually, I thought this was a great example & hope I've taught people to look for the cryptic in art. It's more common than the the average people believe. Our CW people were really s-l-o-w to pick-up on it! (even when I hinted at it).
