This brooch has been passed down through our family for nearly 100 years. We know it was given to my nans grandmother sometime around he 1920 era. She worked as a maid for a german family where the son took a shine to her and would shower her with gifts....this brooch was one of them. There has been questions whether the stone was emerald but now its being said it is paste. It is well made and doesnt looked to have been worn! We would like to know what its value and more importantly the history to it and what the markings on the back mean.

The xx mark looks the makers mark for Wilhelm Muller, a German Jeweller active from 1880 to about 1940. The 925 is the purity of the silver 92.5 pure. Hope this helps a bit.

Sorry meant to say 935 which was a mark used mainly in Germany And Austria around the 1920's.

I also have a set of earrings which it looks as if the brooch was brought to match them. They are still in the original box by baden-baden. These are also green like the brooch but the number marking on the back of these are 958

Hi sammy1, I believe the 958 is gold. It's always good to have 1 or 2 jewelers check it for you, and if you'll be dealing with gold and such, it's good to get your own test kit.

958 is higher grade of silver, Baden Baden a town in Germany. If you google the jewellers name you may find out a bit more. A jeweller would advise what the stones are.
