This little vase is labeled Iwata Glass and is a sweet thing, but it's really hard to get a good photo that shows it's appeal.
Made from clear glass with a mix of unusual colours: turquoise blue, mint green, amber, a brownish pink, black and white.
The whole thing has been cased in clear after the mix so it has very thick walls.
The pontil is flame finished and the lip has been ground.
It's confused me as I am having trouble pinning the style to the Iwata designers I am familiar with.
The label looks oldish, so it is possibly from the era of Toshi or Kuri Iwata, but is not like either of their styles. Perhaps it was by Iwata Kuri's wife, Itoko.
Perhaps it was made by one of the many other glass blowers who had traineeships at Iwata.
