This was just a buck, so I decided I needed it in my house, lol~! I haven't come across anything with this design before, and didn't find anything on the web with this same transfer print pattern. Measures just 6 inches across. No info to speak of on the bottom aside from the number 118, a T and a K. That tells me nothing. Ceramics is not my forte, so I hope somebody comes along who knows what this is and about how old it is. I think it might be Victorian, but what do I know. :-))

Nice plate Bonnie :) Try checking around the Victorian era aesthetic movement probably around 1880 or so. Blue and white transfer ware with a Japanese influence. The framed designs show up a lot imitating Japanese panels with the natural elements like that wonderful mystery insect. Maybe English porcelain from that era or German. That's going to be a toughie to pin down, but you might get lucky and see the mark on something else.
Most of these are Staffordshire Pottery Bonnie there was a Taylor and Kent making pottery around 1870-80. Maybe that's what the T K stands for. Just a guess. :)
mikelv85 - thanks for the input! I have no idea what this insect is supposed to be - something out of the "Jabberwocky"! This poor little dish has seen better days - there's a small chip on the backside edge which, fortunately, isn't visible from the front. It's an old chip. judging from the muddy color of the porcelain. I have not seen this particular pattern before, and I find it very interesting.

I had a look around on the net using the info from Mike. The factory building was demolished in the 1990s. The mark on here is so early that it can't be found by myself - perhaps it was made in the 1870s when the factory first started up. Either way, I am going to consider this mystery "solved" going on Mike's info. I love this little dish and maybe will be lucky and find another piece somewhere.
