This postcard has got a lot going for it in terms of interest.

A ship seems to be racing out into the dark lake as it cuts through waves away from the harsh, capturing beam of an on-shore light tracking it down, a stack pouring out an eternal, threatening cloud of darkness that seems to follow the fleeing steamer from above as some menacing presence desiring to consume.

I am unable to read the darkly-penned, fading message written over the front of this postmarked Fourth of July, 1908, postcard. It seems to say, "On our way to Buffalo , saw Cleveland....."??? and continues for maybe 4 more words.

I do not think it was supposed to look like the dark, intense poster-graphic of some early film, but they nailed it with that!
