This is an exciting and historic hippie era find. A one-of-a-kind original 1960's Protest Demonstration Used Stars & Stripes Sign. Created by the cousin of the Massachusetts seller I acquired this from, Kathy (possibly last name of Wilson) from Connecticut, who sadly died years ago so the details are lost to time. This Rare Handmade 1960’s Vietnam War protest sign, used actual fabric in its creation instead of the expected paints. She also interestingly attached paper "Black Power" fists to the sign. There is a crease of the thin cardboard on the back as it was likely folded for faster mobility at the protest. This I consider an epic find.

Just thinking about a plate/tag I put on the front of my '62 Sprite back before I got drafted. Wish I had it to send you.

Of course this is your item! No doubt ;) and yes, 1960's.

A little FYI-The fists were the sign of the black panthers back in the day. Maybe she...hahaha I just saw bb2's comment!!! OMG he is just too funny!

let's see, Oh I was saying maybe she wrote Panther instead of Power or well, I don't know but for sure it was black panthers.

This was just around the time of the Watts Riots by the way.

As anyone with a search engine likely knows by now, this "black power" fist image was first used by the I.W.W. (Industrial Workers of the World).

I agree with shareurpassion, I too laughed at blunderbuss2's comment... and yes, I too wish you still had the tag - that would be great. Such is life. And yes, i recall watching the Watts Riots on the evening news - imagine how long ago that was. Funny the I.W.W. usage of the fist is now forgotten to time...

Are we saying, the Black Panther's symbol was designed by whites ? LMFAO !!!

LMAO bb2. That is too funny! And i bet they never knew! I was so close to those riots i could hear everything going on. It was pretty crazy and very scary to me as a child. My grandmothers, one of them, lived even closer so we had to go get her and she slept in my bed...The jerks put me by myself on the couch! I would have never done that to my kids! I was terrified!
