The things a person finds in a thrift shop. Tweety measures about 7 centimeters high and 1 centimeter thick. Looks hand carved. The stone is quite heavy, VERY cold and stays cold for a long time. It is reconstituted granite? Something else? I looked at different types of stone on the web but didn't come to any conclusion. Not responsible for the "TWETTY" on the piece of paper, LOL!

    Thanks for looking,
    Bonnie

He's a cute Tweety bird Bonnie, very unusual in the black stone but nicely outlined. You find the coolest things! - Jenni

Soapstone and granite both retain heat and cold depending on their surroundings. Both polish well. However soapstone is very easy to carve compared to granite. I buy all the soapstone I can find if it is reasonable but I pass on granite. I can carve soapstone with my dremel tool. They both hold heat and cold but soapstone is easier to heat or cool because it isn't as dense as granite. Regardless of what you have I think it is neat.

fhrjr2, - it is definitely not soapstone. I am leaning in the direction of granite. Maybe one of a kind? :-)))))
